Podcast: "Why did Alma wish to speak 'with the trump of God'?"

1. Read Alma 25:1-17. What caused the "anger" and "contention" noted in Alma 25:8? List fulfillments of Abinadi's prophecies as explained in Alma 25:9-12. How did the number of the people of Anti-Nephi-Lehi increase?

2. Read Alma 26:1-20. Read Alma 26:3 with 2 Corinthians 4:5-7. What does it mean to be an "instrument" in the hands of God? From Alma 26:12-20, list reasons to rejoice.

3. Read Alma 26:21-37. How did the Lord comfort Ammon and this brethren when their hearts were depressed and they were about to turn back? How did Ammon describe God in Alma 26:35-37?

4. Read Alma 27:1-12. Why didn't the Anti-Nephi-Lehi king want to move his people to Zarahemla? What two conditions would change his mind?

5. Read Alma 27:13-30. How was the matter of the people of Anti-Lehi-Nephi resolved among the Nephites? What clues do we have as to the reason the people of Ammon were a "beloved people, and highly favored people of the Lord"?

6. Read Alma 28:1-14. Two kinds of mourning are described in Alma 28:11-12. What made the difference? From Alma 28:13-14, how many times did Mormon state "...and thus we see..."? What did he want us to learn from these missionary chapters?

7. Read Alma 29:1-17. This chapter has been called the "Psalm of Alma." Why did Alma wish he could preach with the voice of an angel? Was this wish sinful?

BONUS: From Alma 29:9-17, in what did Alma glory? What did he remember? In what did he find joy? Answer the same questions for yourself: In what do you glory? What do you remember? In what do you find joy?
