Helaman 13-16

1. Read Helaman 13:1-17.

Why do you think the Lord sent Samuel the Lamanite to call the Nephites to repentance, along with Nephite prophets? What obstacles did Samuel overcome in order to do the will of the Lord?

2. Read Helaman 13:18-39.

Why were the Nephites' riches  cursed? Why had the Nephites rejected the prophets?

BONUS:

List consequences of sin that Samuel prophesied against the riches of the Nephites if they didn't repent.

3. Read Helaman 14:1-18.

List five signs Samuel gave the people so they would recognize the day of the Savior's birth. From Helaman 14:11-12, give four truths Samuel taught.

4. Read Helaman 14:19-31.

List the signs Samuel gave that would signal the coming death of the Christ.

Rewrite Helaman 14:30 in your own words. 

5. Read Helaman 15.

From Helaman 15:7-8, list the steps of spiritual progression that led to a mighty change of heart among the Lamanites. Which verses from Helaman 15 might explain why the first missionary efforts in the early latter-day church were directed toward Native Americans?

6. Read Helaman 16:1-12.

From Helaman 16:1-6, list the three distinct reactions of the people to Samuel's message of repentance. Which of the three groups was largest?

7. Read Helaman 16:13-25.

What happened in the 90th year of the reign of the judges? List steps of apostasy from Helaman 16:15-22
