3 Nephi 19-20

To be discussed January 11

1. Read 3 Nephi 19:1-9.

How much time did the people who saw Christ at Bountiful spend bearing witness of the Savior? What did the Nephite 12 teach the multitude while they waited for the Lord's return?

2. Read 3 Nephi 19:10-23.

How were the Nephites' prayers answered? What were the people doing when Jesus came and stood in the midst of them? What did the Savior command them to do?

BONUS:  How many times is the word "pray" used in 3 Nephi 19:17-23?

3. Read 3 Nephi 19:24-36.

3 Nephi 19:24 tells us Jesus' disciples continued to pray and "were filled with desire." Considering what happened to them next, for what might they have been praying? 3 Nephi 19:25 and 30 record that Jesus "smiled." Why was the Lord pleased?

4. Read 3 Nephi 20:1-9.

Although Jesus commanded the multitude to cease their prayers, what did He command them not to cease? What is the difference? How did this prepare them to partake of the emblems of His sacrifice?

5. Read 3 Nephi 20:10-22.

What did the Savior use as the text for His sacrament meeting talk? What was His message?

6. Read 3 Nephi 20:23-34.

What does it mean to be called "children of the covenant"? When will Israel's watchmen sing together and see eye to eye?

7. Read 3 Nephi 20:35-46 with D&C 113:7-10. What is the strength of Zion? How will Zion be redeemed?
