2 Nephi 32-33

To be discussed March 24

In your reading, try to identify doctrines of Christ by looking for the main message of the writer. In other words, what basic principle(s) of the gospel might the writer want you to recognize and apply in your own life? What is his purpose in writing?

1. Read 2 Nephi 32:1-4. From the first verse in 2 Nephi 32, what seems to have been the motivation for Nephi to write these final chapters in his record? How can we hear the tongues of angels in our own lives?

2. Read 2 Nephi 32:5-9. What is the doctrine of Christ? List some of the specific benefits of a sincere prayer life as explained by Nephi in 2 Nephi 32:5-9.

3. Read 2 Nephi 33:1-3. What assurance did Nephi have from the Holy Spirit regarding his writings, in spite of his admitted weakness? For whom did he pray?

4. Read 2 Nephi 33:4-6. Why did Nephi glory in plainness? How can we give a plain message regarding the gospel today?

5. Read 2 Nephi 33:7-9. For whom did Nephi have charity? For which of these did he have hope?

6. Read 2 Nephi 33:10-15. How can we gain an unshakable testimony of the Book of Mormon? What is the last word of Nephi's testimony, prior to his "amen"?

7. Going back over all the writings of Nephi, list verses from 1 and 2 Nephi which have helped bring you closer to Christ, or have taught you more about the characteristics and attributes of the Savior. How can we be better prepared to meet Christ (and Nephi) at the judgment bar of God?
