1. Read 2 Nephi 2:1-9. How can our afflictions be consecrated for our gain? (See also Romans 8:28, D&C 122.)From 2 Nephi 2:3-4, list what Jacob had seen, even at a young age.
BONUS: From 2 Nephi 2:8, what are the merits of the Savior? What is His mercy? What is His grace?
2. Read 2 Nephi 2:10-16. Why must there be an opposition in all things? Explain why there would be no progress, no righteousness, and no happiness without the law.
3. 2 Nephi 2:17-24, with Moses 5:10. Why does Satan want us to be miserable? What would we NOT have, if Adam and Eve had not partaken of the forbidden fruit in the Garden of Eden?
4. 2 Nephi 2:25-30. What are we free to choose? Once that choice is made, how are we empowered in making other choices?
5. 2 Nephi 3:1-6, with chapter 3 headnote. What did the Lord promise Joseph, the son of Jacob and an ancestor of Lehi? What did Lehi promise his son Joseph regarding his descendants?
6. 2 Nephi 3:7-13. What did Lehi prophesy regarding the Bible and the Book of Mormon (v. 12)? List what these two books will DO for future generations.
7. 2 Nephi 3:14-25. List ways in which Joseph Smith fits the description given by Joseph of Egypt, regarding a seer who would come forth.
